Padova Jazz Festival 2026

As autumn coats Padua’s historic porticoes in warm golden hues, the city changes its pace. For nearly three decades, its ancient squares, historic cafes, 14th-century halls, and grand theaters step away from everyday academic routine to embrace the warm, improvisational spirit of world-class jazz.

Organized by the Miles Cultural Association under the artistic direction of Gabriella Piccolo Casiraghi, the Padova Jazz Festival reaches its 28th edition in 2026. From October 22 to November 8, 2026 (featuring a special preview on October 10), Padua confirms its status as one of Europe’s most captivating autumn music destinations, bringing together global jazz legends, contemporary pioneers, and Italian masters.

A Heritage of Passion: Transforming the City Experience

The roots of the Padova Jazz Festival date back to the late 1990s, when a passionate group of music lovers set out to turn Padua from a quick tour stop into a true capital of live improvised music. Year after year, the festival forged a distinct identity, hosting iconic figures from the global jazz canon while constantly nurturing new artistic directions.

The key innovation behind the festival’s success was breaking away from the rigid format of traditional concert halls. Jazz, born in streets and clubs, thrives on open interaction with the surrounding urban life. Over the years, the Padova Jazz Festival evolved into an immersive, citywide cultural festival.

While historic venues host evening headline performances, the festival rhythm hums throughout the day. Mornings begin with coffee and talks inside landmark cafes, while weekends bring brass bands to historic piazzas and Padua University opens its science halls for special lecture-concerts blending music and physics.
